Passengers having paper tickets can also avail this offer. For availing this offer, they have to submit an application or call on 139 for such queries before chart preparation. But make sure about the train running status by checking Live Station Train before applying for changes. In case of any circumstances, they can travel from their old boarding station without paying any additional charges. Their seats will not be allocated to someone else.
E-Ticket Holders:
Passengers who have e-tickets can change their boarding station via IRCTC official website. E-ticket holders can avail of this option online only. For changing boarding stations online, log in to your IRCTC account and change your boarding station four hours before the chart preparation.
Tatkal Ticket Holders:
The Tatkal Ticket holders were previously not allowed to change their boarding station, but from this year Railways has enabled this option for them. Now they can also change their boarding stations. This major step has been taken to provide relief to the passengers who reside outside of the metro cities. Now they can find trains between stations and make the changes as per their convenience.

Key Points You Must Know about Changing Boarding Stations:
Paperless Ticket or E-ticket Holders
Passengers can change their boarding station online (via IRCTC portal)
Once you change your boarding station, you'll lose all the right to board from the old boarding station.
You will have to pay the fare from the boarding station to the new boarding station with a penalty if you are caught red-handed i.e. traveling without any proper authority.
Boarding stations are allowed to change only once during a whole journey.
Boarding Station can be changed 4 hours before the chart preparation and 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
If your ticket is seized then you are not allowed to change the boarding station.
PNR with VIKALP options is not allowed to change the boarding stations.

Passengers can change their boarding station from the PRS counter 4 hours before the chart preparation.
Passengers can also make a call on 139 to change their boarding station.
You will not have to pay any extra charges if you're traveling from the old boarding station.

Select the train for which you want to change your boarding point
